Weight Watchers Journey Take 4

Posted by: User ImageSusie  //  Category: Weight Watchers

Ten Months after Weight WatchersThanksgiving before Weight WatchersI have delved into the weight watchers journey yet again over the past two weeks.  I was online reading and ran across a blog that has been a joy to read - the post that struck me that day was 100 and 100  when I originally lost the 50 pounds of waddle, I would not exercise, for crying out loud, I had to change my eating habits, and I was not going to exercise…but we all plateau.  This post reminded me.. it’s gotta be done.

Realizing I was at the point of umppfff..when I got out of bed, I headed to my local WW meeting.  I hemmed and hawed for several months..been there, done that, met goal 4 times.. originally loosing 50 pounds in 10 months.. as you see by these pictures and my huge plate of food! Thanksgiving 1998 - with the Turkinator.. 27 pound bird.. think it all went down my gullet.

I have found alot of great advice from the gentleman who posted 100 and 100 and I found it through Entrecard.   Saphrym gives a daily blog of what is going on through his weightloss journey..and in a round about way keeps saphrym-rocks007.jpgpeople in check that he is not even aware of.

After my meeting tonight, loosing 7.6 pounds in two weeks, and counting every morsel that goes in my mouth.. I jumped on his blog and ran across an interesting contest, and thought..what a way to end my day.  Work has been miserable, and I am trying to keep a positive attitude going on, even had to take a mental health day yesterday..so not to be unemployed,  I end my day a positive note.. My three minute sketch - Saphrym Rocks…keep up the good work, the good writing….

Good Night Book, Good Night Computer, Good Night Moon! (by the way..is an awesome book!)

Jim Morrison - Break on Through

Posted by: User ImageSusie  //  Category: Pencil Sketches

Jim Morrison Sketch DrawingBreak on through to the other side! We chased our pleasures here, dug our treasures there.  But can you still recall, the time we cried?

Jim Morrison’s elusive behavior through out the late sixties defined his persona.  Man of mystery, enchanting and mesmerizing.   The moment his lips touched the microphone’s and the music came from the depths of his tortured soul, the audience was captivated and could not get enough of the creature they demeaned “adonis”

Truly a magnificent looking man, Jim’s ungovernable behavior through out his entire career seemed to only add to that mystic.   Appearing to be catatonic like often times on stage, Jim’s energy drew any crowd into his very own ritualistic ceremonies.

In my opinion one of the best live performances of The Doors is Live In Pittsburgh 1970 - as many of my readers know, I am a huge Stevie Ray Vaughan Fan, and one of my favorites of Stevie’s is Close to You off The Sky is Crying (Willie Dixon) - The Doors - Ray Manzarek sings this song on this 2 CD Set as well, and it just kick’s bootie!

This is one of my first sketches of Jim that I ever did, the original is now in the hands of a very nice young man Patrick that I work with.  He takes care of all my shipping needs! Done in woodless graphite, and using a light smudging technique, I didn’t go over board with the blending, because I wanted it to be a little more crisp.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Drawing Sketch

Posted by: User ImageSusie  //  Category: Pencil Sketches

Origanally they called themselves “My Backyard”, well, my backyard is full of snow at the moment, leaving me to my studio and an group that became an Icon in Rock.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Street Survivor Pencil SketchOnly being inducted into the Hall of Fame in March of 2006, Skynyrd’s Southern Rock has hauled ass into many of our headphone’s and out of many 8 track decks during the 1970’s.

The crash that claimed the famed band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines, will remain a tragic memory in the original band’s history, on February 5th, 2008 -  the 30th Anniversary - Street Survivors Two CD Deluxe Set was released.  With previously unrealeased Album Mix and the bands final recordings.  The legendary sound of Lynryd Skynyrd will continue to live on in music history.

I was asked to do a sketch of the original album cover - for a gift.  MCA Records removed the flames on engulfed the band members on the original album sleeve, and replaced the band on a solid black background.

This sketch is half done, and I have used Woodless Graphite - Soft Pencil and I will incorporate a slight bit of color in the flames to represent the original idea behind it.  For a dedicated and loyal fan.

The completed Lynryd Skynryrd Drawing!
