Pencil Sketches,
chicago bears
I have heard the quote, “the year that was” referring to the 1985 Chicago Bears.
As we tune into Super Bowl XLII, on Bears fans mind is more recently Super Bowl XLI, where Chicago fell apart and quickly allowed one of the most glorious plays (IMO) to go down in history without a win to back it up.
Even with subzero temperatures and frigid winds, Devin Hester continued to keep fans in awe and visiting teams on the their feet as the ball flew threw the windy city air.
As promised at the beginning of this drawing, I release my Super Bowl Day Drawing of Devin Hester.

This software is way to much fun for a cold, misty Chicago weekend!
PQ DVD was running a special if you blogged about the software, you get a free copy! It’s worth trying, but I think I missed the deadline!
Gave me hours of entertainment!
This was one of my earlier Johnny Depp done on a piece of cedar, it was about 1/8 inch think. I did not sand this a whole lot, kept a bit of roughness to give Jack Sparrow a bit more ruddy look.

This weeks Make it From Scratch Carnival was hosted by The Common Room and with some great little recipes on there, just in time for the “New” Superbowl Show down. Whether you are a New England or a New York fan, there are some recipes that should suit you.
One of the recipe’s that immediately stood out was the Mexican Seven Layer Dip.
Yet again, reminding me we were supposed to leave for Mexico on February 4th. This is a photo from our trip last year, during our Ecological Horseback Tour. I added the writing at the bottom to create a postcard out of it. The bus missed us, and we quite an enjoyable cab ride through the backwoods of Las Palmas Jalisico on our way to Rancho Capomo.
It was quite interesting passing the Mexican Prison, as folks lined up with bags and bags of groceries and goods. It was quite intriguing to me that you are driving through the woods, the mountains and the forest, and there is nothing around, then all of the sudden, out of no where, there is a taco stand or restaurant, with scads of customers.
Staying on the Mexican theme, you can find Make it From Scratch Refried Pinto Beans to add to your Superbowl weekend.
Another great find, that tied into my Decoding Laundry article that was posted so kindly by Eve @ Confessions of a Housewife was Stop the Ride - 13 Ways to use dryer lint!
I was excited this morning as well to see that I got a 4 out of 5 Blog Review over at Bloggeries! Thanks to all involved in making that happen!
Back to Devin!

Pencil Sketches,
chicago bears
February 2007, Chicago fan’s flew flags, and prepared for a long anticpated Superbowl. Party preparations, excitement was in the air like the blizzard of 1967 &1979.
The city stopped during those snow storms. Last year, Bears Fan’s stopped at any chance they could to discuss the upcoming game, all over the city, Monster’s of the Midway. The Art Institute Lion’s doned the Chicago Bears Helmet’s.
92 yards for a touchdown at Superbowl XLI, we sat with racing hearts and sweaty palms, with anticipation of a Superbowl celebration. Well, we all know how it ended, and as the Superbowl weekend kicks into gear, I decided to draw a tribute to a player that has held his own, and held the ball for:
- Most touchdown returns in a season - (6) (2006, 2007)
- Most touchdowns kick and punt returns in a season - (6) (2007)
- Most touchdown returns as a rookie (6) - (2006)
- Most touchdown returns in one game (2)** - Against St. Louis on 12/11/2006 and Denver Broncos on 11/25/07
As the weekend get’s underway, this sketch, done with a General’s Woodless Graphite HB, merging three of Devin’s famous poses into one 18 x 18 sketch, it will be a Bear’s Superbowl at heart!
Stay tuned for the finish product!
