With this weekends release of Sex and the City, Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones has screamed sexuality to us dedicated watchers for many years. Where does a womans sexuality lay?
The drawing to the right is what so many deem as sexuality, we drive ourselves as women to be the Samantha Jones’ & Carrie Bradshaws’ when in reality being a size 2 for most of us would mean giving up absolutely everything to get there.
My husband has always told me that sexuality is a frame of mind, 90% mental and 10% physical.
When we begin to drive for something that is unreachable and unrealistic to us, we begin to loose ourselves. Sexuality as seen on TV, we must remember is make-believe.
We can strive to be what is perceived as the woman of today. Without loosing who we truly are. Sexuality lies deep within the core of our souls, and when we give up on all the glitz and the glam as seen on the big screen or weekly television shows that we get engrossed in, we find ourselves in the comfort of our own homes, in our sweats & pj’s.
This is not easily achieved by any means, my vanity runs deep and is as turbulent as white water rafting during a wind storm. Not letting it get the best of me and realizing that true love, love’s those pj’s and sweats and love’s me with a few extra pounds, that is reality and that can drive your sexuality. I find myself angry at myself from time to time because I am not at my goal weight, or my clothes don’t fit the way they did when I was 25, but I try and turn it around, we all need a goal. If I am aware of that, and continue to try and meet it, I am working on it, and that is all we can ask.
Sexuality is not just a single solitary image, it’s an entire package, it’s a essence, as women we all have it buried somewhere. Get rid of those clothes that remind you of days gone by and move forward for today is a brand new day!

Interestingly, I watched a program about Mary Magdalen on the History Channel this weekend and it talked about women have been categorized as either the Virgin Mother or the “repentant whore” Mary Magdalen and how this perception has totally shaped our views on sexuality and gender roles.

Yeah, it is too bad too that women’s sexuality has been repressed for so long, I think that is the main place where Sex and the city and similar shows stem from - sort of a sexual liberation of women.
But just as you say, on a day to day basis, most of us do not walk around in perfect lingerie and high heels
