This is one of my favorite songs of his though – Now Comes The Night

Rob Thomas was born on Valentine’s Day in 1972

Diane was born on February 15th, 1948 and this time of year I always think of her, we hated winter and couldn’t wait for the 1st sign of spring.

We travel through life, not realizing the impact that we have on one another. The friends that teach you, the friends that you teach. I have many reasons for writing this today….

“What is a Keyword?” This simple statement started me on a journey that has helped me be where I am at today.

The friend that taught me what a “keyword” was will be starting her “new” journey, we haven’t gotten to see each other much, because life gave us both new paths over the course of the last 3 years. In the back of my mind, her wisdom and patience as I learned “keywords” and I learned about her, will always remain. Wherever the wings of life land you, you are a phone call away. I won’t mention her name or post her picture, (yes, I still have it) cuz she’d smack me upside the head and send some funky ju-ju my way!

I posted about another friend over at Children Of Fallen Riders, it is these people that we call friends that can shape our lives. Diane that is mentioned above, still has an impact on me, after 8 years gone, I hear this song and still remember sitting with her during the last few days of her life. As we sat, drinking beer and smoking only a few days before she passed, she apologized to me, for having to leave.

Two weeks ago, one of my friends made a decision – it was clearly the right decision, one that could have gone south if it went the other way. I believe he was going to ask me what I would do and there was a hesitation, he sighed.. and his decision was made, he knows me well enough, and I believe somewhere in there, I taught him something.

Now Comes the Night – By Rob Thomas

When the hour is upon us
And our beauty surely gone
No you will not be forgotten
No you will not be alone

And when the day has all but ended
And our echo starts to fade
No you will not be alone then
And you will not be afraid
No you will not be afraid

When the fog has finally lifted
From my cold and tired brow
No I will not leave you crying
And I will not let you down
No I will not let you down
I will not let you down

Now comes the night
Feel it fading away
And the soul underneath
Is it all that remains
So just slide over here
Leave your fear in the fray
Let us hold to each other
Until the end of our days

When the hour is upon us
And our beauty surely gone
No you will not be forgotten
No you will not be alone
No you will not be alone
