Ty Hurd

Sitting on the famous steps that Rocky trained on in front of The Philadelphia Museum of Art, sits a blogger by the name of Ty Hurd, I first ran across him on the Entrecard forums, reading his blog from time to time and picking up some great pointers.

I would also stumble upon him as well, and we got to chatting back and forth and he sent me a link to The Top Affiliate Challenge, where he is a contestant for the web’s first real time reality show, which will be starting to film in July.

Ty’s story of the how, what and why he joined this challenge inspired me to morph him into a place he belonged, he wanted something, and has gone after it.

Being an avid reader of John Chow he opened his feedreader one morning….and read about the Top Affiliate Challenge, a point where he pondered what he wanted to really do with his blog, be content with it as it was, or take it to the next level.
Ty HurdWell, as you can see he decided he was going to climb those stairs, and get to that next level, I get the impression, there are no stairs to steep to climb for this guy.

He did a few auditions, and they went extremely well, but his latest one, a Spoof on Mythbusters video, has as of this morning given him a score of 79.10, which is 10 points higher than the 2nd place runner up.

Ty’s excitement to work with the man that actually inspired him to begin blogging has been a driving force behind the great video’s that he has used as auditions.

Receiving the highest score from the producers of over 150 other video’s was an accomplishment in itself” said Ty.

Staying in the top 10 to become a contestant Ty is continuing to strive for success.  With dedication and flare, this is one guy that deserves to be heard.  Check out his latest audition clip and while your there, hit the number 10 and vote,  give him some kudo’s for seeing what it was he wanted, and going for it.

A phrase you will see often in Ty’s blog is…”just take action and see where it takes you

They Call it Stormy Monday

Bo DiddleyBut Tuesday’s just as bad…. A famous tune by T-Bone Walker, They Call it Stormy Monday and in the music industry yesterday could be considered just that.

With the loss of Bo Diddley at age 79 yesterday, we can truly say Tuesday’s just as bad.

Bo Diddley built the bridge over the waters of blues into rock with a career beginning by playing on street corners.  Bo Diddley played what he liked, an unusual instrument called the “Twang Machine” by Gretsch, being an individual and creating a style that would land him in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

Rest in Peace Bo Diddley - I chose the dove to accompany a great musical talent onto his journey to meet with the many great guitar stringers that have gone before him.

I would like to thank Fool for requesting the drawing you see before you!

Sexuality in Woman

Posted by: Susie  //  Category: Pencil Sketches

Sexuality With this weekends release of Sex and the City, Kim Cattrall’s character Samantha Jones has screamed sexuality to us dedicated watchers for many years. Where does a womans sexuality lay?

The drawing to the right is what so many deem as sexuality, we drive ourselves as women to be the Samantha Jones’ & Carrie Bradshaws’ when in reality being a size 2 for most of us would mean giving up absolutely everything to get there.

My husband has always told me that sexuality is a frame of mind, 90% mental and 10% physical.

When we begin to drive for something that is unreachable and unrealistic to us, we begin to loose ourselves. Sexuality as seen on TV, we must remember is make-believe.

We can strive to be what is perceived as the woman of today. Without loosing who we truly are. Sexuality lies deep within the core of our souls, and when we give up on all the glitz and the glam as seen on the big screen or weekly television shows that we get engrossed in, we find ourselves in the comfort of our own homes, in our sweats & pj’s.

This is not easily achieved by any means, my vanity runs deep and is as turbulent as white water rafting during a wind storm. Not letting it get the best of me and realizing that true love, love’s those pj’s and sweats and love’s me with a few extra pounds, that is reality and that can drive your sexuality. I find myself angry at myself from time to time because I am not at my goal weight, or my clothes don’t fit the way they did when I was 25, but I try and turn it around, we all need a goal. If I am aware of that, and continue to try and meet it, I am working on it, and that is all we can ask.

Sexuality is not just a single solitary image, it’s an entire package, it’s a essence, as women we all have it buried somewhere. Get rid of those clothes that remind you of days gone by and move forward for today is a brand new day!

A smile danced across my soul

Posted by: Susie  //  Category: Pencil Sketches

Smile Sketch This is a drawing of the face behind, Time for a Smile, a blog worth reading once a day if not more.  Is laughter the best medicine?

How can you not feel the effects when you show those pearly whites, and your belly hurts from laughing.

Are you more apt to walk into an office when you see someone smiling or when they have a scowl on their face? I think that  smiles reproduce themselves on an entirely different level that we are not even aware of.

Engaging in a conversation with someone that ends in a smile or a chuckle, will have profound effects on your productivity.    Somewhere within the core of our genetic make-up, that smile will breed positive energy and will boost your morale, self-esteem and your outlook on what is in front of you.

It is a simple concept that is lacking in our current state of affairs.  People are fearful of their jobs, the economy & the rising prices of fuel.  Those issues tend to over shadow the importance of the basics in life.  When it comes down to it in the end, what is it we have?

We have our families & our friends, and we have ourselves, we need to recognize the value in that.  The importance of laughter & smiles can bring happiness into your life.    When negativity and anger are in the drivers seat, there will eventually be a crash, in that I have “no doubt

When I first met my husband, he left me a little card with a flower one day - it read…

I thought of you and a smile danced across my soul

It’s easy if you try

John Lennon

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace…..

I was hoping to have this sketch of John Lennon finished for Memorial Day, but time just slipped on by.  There are several quotes from John Lennon, that provoke one to think of peace.

Peace resonated out of John Lennon, his music and his art.  If we can take a moment each day to find that little slice of peace, we can all come together to turn into an infectious cycle.  Turn off the TV, put down your paper, and forget the reality television shows for just a day.  Turn your attention to creating a peaceful moment for someone.

Send a short note to one of our many service man that are somewhere in an un-peaceful situation, let them know they are thought of and we wish them a moments peace.   I have worn a Military POW/MIA Bracelet for one of our Veterans for several years his name is Anthony F Housh, and I just got in contact with one of his nephews, he knows that this man is being thought of, and for his service being honored today.  I hope that brought peace to him and his family to let them know, he is not forgotten.

Peace is a tough challenge to concur, one that’s been debated for centuries,  but if we begin with one foot in front of the other, among ourselves, our families, our friends…it’s easy if you try
